Schools and Uniformed Youth Groups

Resources, Competitions and Grants

One of the South Downs National Park Trust priorities is to increase the learning time for young people spent outside in the National Park. By investing in the younger generation in this way we also hope to create our future ambassadors, those wanting to protect what they have enjoyed for the next generation.

There are a number of grant opportunities for young people, schools and uniformed youth groups available at different times throughout the year such as volunteering opportunities, outdoor activities for Youth Action, nature recovery mini grants for schools, travel grants enabling visits to the South Downs, competitions, residentials and apprenticeship schemes.

Clean up and Create Competition - The Results

‘Art in the Park’

Check out the amazing winners and highly commended in 2022’s art competition.

We asked schools to collect litter as they explored the National Park and get creative with what they found. The results were impressive with prizes of up to £75 worth of art resources for schools, with thanks to The Boltini Trust.

Open to 5 – 16 year olds resident in Sussex and Hampshire, the Art in the Park competition was organised alongside an education programme delivered by Sussex Green Living.
